SCAT is a standardized test designed by CTY (Center for Talented Youth) of John Hopkins University to help academically gifted children take off to the next level in academics. There are three versions of the SCAT - Elementary SCAT for 2-3 graders designed to test skills of 3-6 graders, Intermediate SCAT for 4-5 graders designed to test skills of 6-9 graders, and Advanced SCAT for 6 and above graders designed to test skills of 9-12 graders.

SCAT is designed to test above-grade-level skills in a child and therefore it is important that you are prepared to solve those higher-grade-level problems that will show up on your test day. A good SCAT preparation calls for a structured approach that includes understanding of higher-level math concepts, verbal reasoning skills, effective test-taking strategies, and a "lot" of practice.
